Glass Fiber Mats Technical Data Sheet (TDS)

Glass fiber mats are non-woven reinforcement materials composed of randomly oriented chopped strands or continuous filaments. They are primarily used in FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) processes, including hand lay-up, pultrusion, and compression molding, offering excellent resin compatibility, formability, and mechanical reinforcement.

Features & Advantages

  • Uniform fiber distribution for consistent mechanical properties
  • Fast wet-out and good resin penetration for increased production efficiency
  • High tensile strength and dimensional stability
  • Excellent formability around complex contours
  • Low fuzz and dust for cleaner working conditions
  • Chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, and organic solvents (especially for C-glass mats)

Typical Applications

  • Hand lay-up and spray-up FRP manufacturing
  • Boat hulls, water tanks, bathware, automotive panels
  • Pultrusion profiles (SBM, Combo Mat)
  • Pipe wrap and laminated sheet production
  • Molded parts in construction, marine, and transportation industries
  • Electrical insulation in transformers and switchgears (CFM)

Handling & Storage

  • Store in a dry, clean, and well-ventilated warehouse
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture
  • Recommended storage temperature: 15–35°C, humidity < 65%
  • Rolls should be kept vertically or laid flat with no stacking over 2 layers

Quality Control

All mats are subjected to strict quality inspection including:

  • Area weight and thickness verification
  • Tensile and peel strength testing
  • Binder and moisture content analysis
  • Visual inspection for uniformity, defects, and contamination
